  • In this course, students strengthen their English fundamentals as they prepare for academic success in Middle School English and Humanities. The course enhances students' abilities in reading, writing, and speaking. It focuses significantly on refining mechanics, broadening vocabulary, and boosting organizational skills, all crucial for analyzing literature and improving writing proficiency. Students delve into the basics of the writing process, parts of speech, and elementary paragraph formation to sharpen their writing. They practice annotation and learn to identify relevant evidence to back their textual analyses. Upon completing the course, students will be well-equipped to excel in Middle School English and Humanities.

  • To successfully complete this course, students will need access to a laptop or desktop computer with a reliable internet connection and a working webcam and microphone. This course may also require purchase of texts or other course materials.

  • This Guided-Study course is an opportunity for students to work individually with a teacher-mentor in a subject areas with low or inconsistent partner school demand. The course includes both synchronous and asynchronous elements, with sequenced activities and regular weekly deadlines designed to help the student keep on track and encourage and support the development of productive time management skills. In addition, the student meets one-to-one with their teacher for individualized coaching sessions. Course materials, emphases and summative projects can be tailored to accommodate student interests and school requirements.
