This course introduces students to cooperative, interactive storytelling through the world of tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs). Students will learn to critically evaluate narratives and develop their own articulated plots that provide consumers (players or readers) opportunities to influence the outcome of events. In addition to an academic look at an influential genre of gaming, players will evaluate the social norms of roleplay and practice remaining present and involved with a group of peers and adults. By the end of the course, students will develop an original adventure in a novel setting, through which they will guide a group of their peers using a game system they prefer and their storytelling voice.
