This course is designed to prepare students for the formal study of Algebra and Geometry in a Middle and Upper School environment. Students will develop a solid foundation of fluency with rational numbers and proportional relationships. Major areas of study include simple equations, fractions, decimals, inequalities, graphs and functions, percent, probabilities, and an introduction to geometry and right triangles. Students will explore these subjects with reference to concrete, real-world problems, analyzing situations verbally, numerically, graphically, and symbolically. On successful completion of Pre-Algebra, a student will be prepared to enroll in Algebra 1.
