This course will provide students with an introduction to the fundamentals of the American legal system. Students will explore legal cases, legal opinions, and commentaries on the law. Students will develop and apply legal analysis to case studies and problems. Students will examine the law’s successes and failures in addressing issues in American history and society. Additionally, students will actively take on the roles of the system. Students will explore the legal procedures of a trial from investigation through verdict by engaging in simulation activities. The students will apply their academic understanding and critical thinking as they engage in the mock trial.
