In this course, students will explore and analyze the factors and events which contributed to the Holocaust. Through first-person accounts and documents, students will look at various central subjects of the Holocaust: the growth and spread of anti-Semitism, Hitler and the rise of Nazi ideology, life in Nazi Germany for the Jews, Jewish exclusion and separation, Jewish and non-Jewish responses to the Holocaust, the Final Solution, the aftermath, and its influence on future genocides after the 1940s.
