Everyone loves Chinese food, but did you know that there are actually eight distinct Chinese cuisines? This course is an exploration of the rich and diverse cultures of the People’s Republic of China: 56 ethnicities, multiple climates, and thousands of years of history. We will introduce the basics of Mandarin, the standard Chinese language; learn about Chinese history and geography; experience cultural traditions that have been carried on for generations. Through it all, students will reinforce their learning by participating in hands-on kitchen activities.
