This course provides the content of a college-level introductory Chemistry course. Topics covered include atomic structure, intermolecular forces and bonding, chemical reactions, kinetics, thermodynamics and equilibrium. Students engage with material through a blend of live online instruction, self-guided study and collaborative group work. Hands-on labs, including online simulations, take-home labs and (where possible) proctored on-campus labs, form a backbone of empirical study. The adoption of microscale practices for the AP lab creates a safer and more environmentally friendly approach. On successful completion of this course, students will be prepared to sit the AP Chemistry exam.
