Human Pedagogy for an AI World (February)

$250$2,000

Spring 2024

Monday, February 5 – Friday, March 1, 2024

Recent developments in generative AI are reshaping the environment for students and educators. Powerful new platforms like GPT, Claude and others challenge us to reassess our purpose as educators and to develop new standards and pedagogies to support our students. How can we use AI to enhance learning outcomes, foster creativity, and promote individual growth? How can we prepare our students for the challenges and opportunities of a world transformed by AI?

In this course, we will actively explore the capacities and limitations of a range of AI tools, as well as workshop activities, assignments and policies that harness AI to encourage deep learning while addressing concerns over academic integrity.

Timeline

  • 4-week active seminar (Monday, February 5 – Friday, March 1, 2024): Participants will meet synchronously over zoom, read and discuss course materials and collaboratively workshop activities and policies.
  • optional follow-up (through August 2024): Participants will have the opportunity to continue as a PLC (professional learning community) via asynchronous discussion threads, as well as continued workshopping of lesson plans, and access to all course materials.
